Personal Photoshoot

For my photoshoot I wanted to show the power of goth, how it gives me and others like me confidence and a feeling power though beauty. I collected images of strong female characters who give off a sense of majesty and strength through their attitude and what they wear. Feeling powerful is very important to me and I get it through belonging to my subculture and being different to the mainstream and I want to be able to express this.

My beautiful model Ben channelling punk with some elements of biker which can be related to goth, his boots in particular are biker military in style.  

 

I really love this picture, Ben looks so dark and threatening but still gorgeous, just what I wanted. It took a long time to get to this picture as he was quite nervous and it probably didn't help that my parents laughed at him once they saw what I had done to the poor boy. Never the less, he did good to act as the character I envisioned and the resultant pictures are gorgeous, even if my mum still disagrees.

I wanted the strong, royal attitude, as if he is powerful and knows it.

I had to keep rearranging his various chains and belts as I did not want this to look like bondage. I can save that for another shoot, anyway, I don't think he would appreciate me casting him as a fetish item

Final Pictures and My Moodboards

The sofa pictures are my favourite, there is such a stark contrast between the vintage regality of the sofa and her punkish attire and attitude.

These boots are absolutely beautiful, they look to me like demonia platforms, a pair I have wanted for ages but a pair that my student budget simply will not allow.

I feel I can relate to this image, I too have my favourite grey hoodie I use as a comforting blanket in which I can hide from life, headphones to escape reality and yet I still want to look aggressive and powerful in beauty.

We were experimenting with the idea of contrasts so I collected images of various punk or distressed jackets along with a few of formal blazers and suits

Here I tried to combine ideas of traditional dresses associated with formality and occasion, such as wedding dresses, with more punk/goth materials and accents.
